The Ghana Rugby Football Union has introduced rugby to students at the South Labone Girls Technical Institute as part of its Rugby Rising Play initiative.
Serving as a major kickstarter for the 2026/2027 Rugby Rising Play program, the maiden training session held on the school premises saw an enthusiastic participation of 42 girls.

The session was led by Madam Rafatu Inusah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, who also served as Head Coach for the day. She was supported by national team (Eagles) players Jamila Awal, Matilda, Matiti, and Asana.

The girls were taken through the core fundamentals of the game, focusing on ball handling, passing, catching, and scoring.
The session was filled with high energy and excitement, highlighting the rapidly growing interest in women's rugby at the grassroots level.

Ghana Rugby remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding the sport among young girls through the Rugby Rising Play initiative, proudly supported in partnership with World Rugby and Rugby Africa.
